When you need this
When everyone in the room agrees you should build it, and each of them is picturing something different. Or when a feature shipped six months ago, the numbers have not moved, and nobody can say which number it was supposed to move. Both cases share a cause: the problem has never been written as one sentence.
What we actually do
We interview six to ten real users, including the ones who already left — they usually know where the problem is better than the people who stayed. Then we draw the current journey and mark every point where someone gives up. Prototyping starts only after you have signed off on the problem definition.
What you get
A one-page problem definition, a map of the current and intended flows, a prototype you can put in front of users, and a list of the assumptions still untested. That last one is usually the most useful document of the four.
What we do not do
We do not deliver visual comps alone. We also do not present three directions for you to choose between — that hands the decision back to you, which is the thing you hired us to avoid. We bring one proposal and explain why the other two routes were ruled out.
How it starts
A 90-minute focus session. You leave with a written problem definition whether or not we work together. Most people discover somewhere in that document that the thing they came in asking for is not what they need.
